The airport's environmental work

Jönköping Airport is committed to reducing the impact the airport has on the environment. The airports aim is to lead by example when it comes to managing and caring for our local environment.

The airport recognises that the forecast growth of the aviation sector, has the potential to cause significant environmental impacts. As the airports impacts on the local environment cannot increase in line with airport growth, the airport will strive to reduce their scale and nature wherever possible.

The Airports Environment Policy describes these in detail and sets out targets to achieve our environmental policies.

Strategy

The airport's environmental strategy is to work towards continuous environmental improvement by integrating environmental concerns into all activities. The work is structured with a management system built according to the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard.

Policy

Jönköping Airport has an environmentalpolicy and strives to reduce it's environmental impact through continuous improvement and the precention of pollution.
Jönköping Airport complies with relevant environmental legislation and applicable national and international regulations and requirements. .

Environmental Projects

" Gate Green" is Jönköping Airport's environmental and energy projects to reduce energy and fuel consumption. In this project, we work for the reduction of carbon dioxide and electricity and heat consumption.

Comparing year 2017 to the year 2005 we have:
Our own electricity consumption decreased by 45%
Our own heat consumption decreased by 25%
CO2 emissions decreased by 99%
Many of our vehicles are powered, the others use EcoPAr Bio 100, which is synthetic diesel without fossil origin, which means that the airport is almost climate-neutral in our own operations. Some minor measures remain in the next few years.

By 2020, the airport expects to be completely climate-neutral in it's own operations.

We will have in 2015-17 installed LED lighting on the entire airport parking and in the big hangar.

We are now moving on with our energy efficiency and have in autumn 2018, among other things, installed a 200kW plant with solar cells on the entire terminal roof. It will be one of the larger facilities in the county.
See the movie from the solar cells project below:

Charging posts for electric cars have been in place since 2017 in collaboration with clever.nu

Since 2010, the airport participates in the annual Global event Earth Hour to show that we take the climate issue seriously.

Nose isolation

111 residential properties were invented in 2011, of which approximately 50 were considered to be affected by measures. In cases where JAAB could agree with the homeowner, the houses were remedied during 2011-14. For a number of homes, there were some disagreements about whether or not they should be rectified. The Land and Environmental Court took a final position during the summer of 2016 and the last 5 residences were settled in the fall of 2017. Every year, a new control of the noise curves is made on the basis of air traffic performed during the year. This is included in the annual environmental report to the supervisory authority.

Environmental Diploma

In February 2018, Jönköping Airport received the Jönköping municipality's "Environmental Diploma" for the 9th consecutive year.
"By moving from word to action into environmental work, the company has shown exemplary foresight and sense of responsibility," explains the environmental committee's motivation.

Environmental permits

On May 8, 2014 the Land- and Environmentalcourt resolved for a new environmental permit for the airport.

All staff at the airport have been trained in the environment with the help of the "Environmental Traffic Card". In addition, they receive annual internships, such as noise and chemicals, as well as information about the airport's environmental management system. They have also completed courses in economical driving, called eco-driving. We also work to reduce idle driving through information to staff.

The latest course is about how to take care of green spaces to increase the biodiversity of the airport, a positive environmental aspect! This is done in cooperation with Huaros AB.
